BIOGRAPHY
Mr. Dawson is currently manager of Dawson Technical, LLC, a newly acquired small business by the Hawaiian Native Corporation. He is responsible for managing the day to day operations of this vibrant, Hawaiian Native 8(a), entrepreneur company, and marketing the skills and capabilities to commercial and federal markets. In October 2007, Dawson Technical received certification as an 8(a) Small Disadvantaged Business Concern.
Formerly the President of Dawson Group, Inc., he was responsible for corporate forecasting, developing and monitoring departmental budgets, and working with clients to determine existing and future needs. During his tenure at Dawson Group, Mr. Dawson was the Program Manager for the Navy RAC Contract. He interfaced with the client on a daily basis, maintaining constant communication regarding the status of numerous projects at various installations.
Concurrent with his tenure at Dawson Group, Mr. Dawson was instrumental in driving the Congressional Legislation, allowing SBA certified Native Hawaiian-owned Organizations (NHO), similar contractual capabilities benefiting Alaskan Native Corporations (ANC), including direct award capabilities of unlimited value. This Legislation was passed in 2004. Mr. Dawson established and was named Chairman of the Association of Certified Native Hawaiian-owned firms in 2007.
Mr. Dawson is Chairman and Founder of the Hawaiian Native Corporation (HNC). The HNC is a non-profit organization established to promote business activities principally benefiting the indigenous Hawaiians. HNC was one of the first companies in Hawai`i to be recognized as an NHO through the Small Business Administration. The Hawaiian Native Corporation owns 100% of Dawson Technical, LLC and 51% of Dawson Group, Inc. In May 2004, Dawson Technical’s sister company, Dawson Group, was awarded the first NHO Remedial Action Contract by the Navy with a $30M ceiling.
During Mr. Dawson’s career, he researched and identified innovative environmental technologies. These technologies provided for on-site remediation using aeration/volatilization methods. The services included VR Systems that are mobile vapor extraction systems, Unipure systems, which provide thermal catalytic oxidation, and FlowMole services, which are used to install horizontal and extraction wells. He secured exclusive distribution rights for these technologies in Hawai`i and the Pacific. In order to offer these important services to the public, Mr. Dawson developed new markets and initiated a comprehensive marketing plan.
