Project: MEC Removal Action & Supporting Functions
Location: Former Waikolo Maneuver Area, Waimea, Hawaii Client: US Army Corps of Engineers, Honolulu District Scope: The objective of this $13.8M project was to perform an RA to remove and dispose of MEC and Munitions Debris (MD) at Waikoloa. The initial SOW required MEC clearance to depth in areas totaling 2,052 acres. The areas comprised a mixture of terrain types including pasture, steep slopes and rugged, rocky A’a lava flows. The DAWSON Team cleared over 46,000 anomalies, disposed of over 100 MEC items and removed over 14,000 lbs of MD. |

Project: Remedial Cap Design-Build
Location: Kunia Field Station, Oahu, Hawaii Client: US Army Corps of Engineers, Honolulu District Scope: In support of the US Army Corps of Engineers, DAWSON Constructed a multi-layer cover system to contain over 14,000 square feet of TPH impacted soil. The complete cap system consisted of a 40-mil HDPE impermeable liner, a geotextile drainage mat, 4” of Subsurface drainage piping, 24” protective fill, 6” topsoil, and a vegetative Cover. |

Project: Hazardous Solvents Time Critical Removal Action
Location: Hickam AFB, Hawaii Client: US Department of the Air Force Scope: In support of the US Navy Facilities Engineering Command Pacific, DAWSON performed a non-time critical removal action as part of the Base Realignment and Closure activities occurring at the Former Naval Air Station Barbers Point, Oahu, Hawaii. DAWSON characterized, excavated, Packaged, and provided for disposal of 1,080 tons of arsenic, 30 tons of heptachlor epoxide-contaminated soil, and 1,250 tons of contaminated sand blast grit. |
